  • 2 cups peeled, diced apples
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 apple, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and sour cream.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the diced apples gently.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. For the crumb topping, mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  8. Allow cooling before drizzling with prepared cinnamon apple sauce.
