  • 1 medium jalapeño (minced)
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15 ounce cans) great northern beans (drained)
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp (peeled, deveined, tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add cubed chicken and cook until browned (5–7 minutes).
  2. Stir in diced onion, celery, bell pepper, and jalapeño; cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add minced garlic and spices (cumin, paprika, chili powder, cayenne) along with flour; stir for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Gradually pour in chicken broth and add drained beans; bring to simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Incorporate shrimp and cream; cook until shrimp are pink (2–3 minutes). Serve hot.
