  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, apple vinegar (or juice), and sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  3. Sear the beef in a single layer for 1–2 minutes without stirring. Stir-fry until cooked through and set aside.
  4. Add onions, garlic, and ginger to the pan; stir-fry until onions are translucent (about 2–3 minutes).
  5. Return the beef to the pan and add the prepared sauce along with broth or water and sugar. Stir well until everything is coated evenly.
  6. Cook for an additional minute until heated through. Serve over rice or noodles.
