  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Chopped scallions for garnishing
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef belly by combining hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and star anise in a bowl. Coat the beef and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the marinated beef in a roasting pan and roast for about 1.5 – 2 hours until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  3. Increase the oven temperature to broil and glaze the beef with remaining marinade for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
  4. For the creamy sauce, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Slice the roasted beef belly and serve with creamy sauce drizzled on top.
