  • 56 firm apples (Golden or Braeburn)
  • 100 g butter
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 roll of puff pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel, core, and quarter the apples.
  3. In an ovenproof pan, melt butter and sugar over medium heat until golden caramel forms. Add vanilla extract and salt if desired.
  4. Arrange apple quarters rounded side down in the caramel and cook for 10–15 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Roll out puff pastry over the cooked apples, tucking in the edges.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
